  3. Big Al,
Glad to see “smack talk” has already started.By the time you read this email, you will already be in Guatemala. Al, I hope the travel down went well and it will be a short time before you are reunited with you very special friend. We will continue to pray for you and the rest of the group, that the very light of GOD will continue to shine through all of you, and that you may harvest many of the seeds that have been planted as well as scatter many new ones. John

  6. Psalm 145
I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made. All you have made will praise you, O Lord….The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made….The Lord is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all He has made. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth….My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise His holy name for ever and ever.

We will be praying for you as you daily bring God praise through your work with your brothers and sisters in Christ in Guatemala. May you so clearly witness His love to them that not only this generation, but generations to come, will know of God’s power and love.
Have a great trip, and we (Lynette) will have a box of tissues for you when you return….

Just wanted to write a note of thanks for your willingness to serve our God by going down with this group to
gautemala. I know how much you enjoy it and I know that the Lord will bless you for it. As you know we all are praying for you without ceasing and will continue until we see you again. Take care and may the Lord be with you thru his spirit!

  21. Al,
I will try to help you catch up with Kevin on the amount of responses you have, I know it is not a competition but o’ well. May you have a great build day with your team today and continue to let your light shine for JESUS. Thank you for being a witness for all of us that are there in spirit and in prayer. GOD BLESS, John

  22. Hey younger brother,
sounds like all is going well. I wish I was there! I would love to see my sweet family again, can you check on them for me? If you see Irma (you pronounce it Edema,) give her a big hug from me, please! Her parents are Philippe and Petrona, they are the ones with 8 kids. How much pop have you consumed so far? No wonder you have so much energy with all that sugar! Praying for you continuously, for health and safety and dry weather and a fruitful harvest, I know the love of God will just shine through you and the team, how could they possibly resist? : ) Lots of love to you, and to Dan and Heidi also! Your older, but less gray sister, Andrea

  23. Hey Al –
Please keep a watchful eye out for Kevin – you know what high maintenance he is!! And also make sure that you always watch out for your backside – I’m sure Kevin has some pranks planned for you – in fact, I know that he had packed that giant syringe from the hospital!!!! Have a great day – elbow deep in stucco!! Be assured of our continued thoughts and prayers. Can’t wait for updates tonight.
Our God Reigns, Beth Vanden Bosch

  24. Hi Dad,
You lost again, you must be pretty frustrated when the young guys are beating up on you : )

  25. Al – you have been in our daily prayers for safety, health and a servant heart. Hope all is well with you. Our God is good and He has provided all along the way and we will pray daily for His grace and goodness throughout the rest of your travel.

Did you enjoy your candy? Hope it’s all gone!! How is euchre going – whoops – probably a bad topic! Maybe tonight you can beat those ‘young bucks’

  26. Hi Al,
We are praying for you and the entire team. We are certain Kimberly is happy that she can learn to build homes from a professional. She does like to know the proper way to do things. Please take care of her. Have a great week.

  27. Sheri, I got to see your mom and baby today. Your baby boy looks like the healthiest baby in the village. I wish you could have been here as she thanked me for what you have been doing for them. Look on the website and there should be a photo on there of him. Our devotion times continue to be awesome. Our small group is bonding. Pray for all of us tomorrow as we dedicate the homes and bring the Gospel to the families we are building homes for. Thanks to all of you who have sent emails this far, for the encouragement and prayer support.

    In Christ,

    Alan

  28. Hola Al, que pasa? Espero que tengas una buena experiencia en Guatemala. Estoy pensando y orando para uds. PL

  29. Hey Al,
Yes we will be praying for you and the families that they are ready to accept the SALVATION through the death of JESUS and to make HIM LORD of their lives! Every morning I sit here and reply, it makes me wish I was there with Kevin and yourself and someday I will, I am proud to know both of you as friends and I am waiting to see all the pictures that you will have and to hear the stories as well. GOD BLESS my friend, John

  30. Its around 6am in Guat right now. Todat is the day and the main reason i love to come here. To see people and children of God give their life to CHRIST for the very first time is so amazing. I am so blessed that God chose me to be even just a very small part of this. My passion to serve GOD and seeing God reveal to me my purpose in life came from seeing those with nothing at all. Being reminded of Melissa this week by many of her friends being here reminded me of what is my only comfort in life and in death that i belong not to myself but to my faithful SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. How true is that. May GOD bless you today as you serve him back at home. Pray for all the opportunities we come into thur the rest of this week both in the villages and with many of your awesome kids. IN CHRIST ALAN

  31. Al, I think you need to bring a couple of the little girls back with you. I know Shari would probably love to have some female influence at your house! The kids are so darling and I could always take another in – I’m sure Scott would appreciate it better than more puppies!!

Keep up the great work and being one of the “big men on campus” – keep the girls in line! Give Lori a big hug from all of us – this has got to be such an incredible time for her and we are thinking about her constantly as well as the rest of you. Just reading all the stories and seeing the pictures really makes we wish to do this sometime.

Take care and we’re keeping you all in our prayers and thoughts – so much so – I’m not getting any work done here!!
    Love you all!!!!
    Jodi

  32. Al–know you are again having an awesome time.I am looking at a picture on my wall of you and I with a bunch of kids hanging on us…wish I was there sleeping with you….hope BJ is doing a good job taking my place…He is not a bad euchere partner…..am anxious when you come back to set up a time to see your pics and hear your story….Bob

  33. Hi Dad,
Mom was going to write to you, but she’s so pooped from work that she’s like fallen asleep (we watched a movie together last night and that wore her out..TIF)
I’m really excited for you guys for tomorrow, it was always my favorite day. I’ll tell her you have a pic of her baby, she’ll love that. I know your house is sturdy on the outside, may tomorrow you do your inside work, not just on the painting, but on the hearts of those who dwell within that building as well God bless you all, give everyone a hug for me.
    Love your son

  34. AL I WAS GLAD TO HEAR CHAD WAS BUILDING WITH YOU-YOU ARE LIKE HIS DAD WHEN IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING-NO MATTER WHAT IT IS -ITS GOING TO BE DONE RIGHT. 35. Today was an awsome day as the homes were dedicated and lives were changed. Our family has 3 girls and 2 boys. Both the mother and the father gave there life to Christ. Maybe this will be the last time i ever see this family on this earth, but i will see them again in theyre new eternal home in heaven. Which will be really cool because we can actually communicate. One cool God sighting for me was in our small group devotions. We put all our group names in a bowl and each picked out a name for which we would pray for. I was the last one to pick out a name and it was the name of one of the small group members that i really felt called to pray for and in fact had wrote about them in my journal the day before. Just luck, i think not ,because this has happened to me the last 3 times i have been to Guatemala. Sheri i visited you precious baby and his family before we left the village today, they are so grateful for what God called you to do for them, as i have been told that that little boy probably would have died if God would not have placed you at that place at that time. What and awsome God sighting that has been to you and to those affected by it. Our God is so awesome. In CHRIST, ALAN. P.S. Blake the young bucks have seemed to have lost theyre magic tonight.

  36. Al:
Author Mike Yankoski states: “Ministry is about more than just meeting needs; it’s about connecting with the person in need.”
Your team obviously did through the building and dedicating of your house yesterday. You provided more than just a physical need, you showed them love–yours and God’s. People respond to that and lives are changed for eternity! Continue to watch for opportunities to connect with and change lives!
Know that our prayers are with you and your team.
    Love,
    The Dooleys

  37. Hi Alan!
This is the third time I have tried to e-mail you! You can’t say I haven’t tried. This morning I went to the Library to write and it wouldn’t go through. But I did get to see the picture of my baby and I almost started crying in the Library when I saw him. I’m so jealous you got to hold
my baby and see him and his mother. Sounds like everything is going great. I know that this group is being used to change the lives of the people they have come in contact with and I know some of this groups lives will be changed after this trip. God is really working down there and in the amazing work Dan and Heidi do. Sorry I couldn’t write more but at least you have some cards to read. I have a feeling you weren’t expecting that. Have a great last couple of days.
Anxious to hear all the stories and to see you. Tonight we go to pick up Chad from the airport. I’ve missed him. Miss you-love you. See you at the airport Tuesday. Love you tons, Sheri

  38. Al,

I’m very excited that you got to go to Guatemala again. I didn’t know you were going until I got on the web site. Praying that God is continuing to use your group and Paradise Bound Ministries to change people’s lives. WE continue to lift your group up in prayer. Tom and Karen Zoodsma

    love you
    Blake

  40. Al,

It is an answer to prayers that all is going well for you again in Guatemala. I am glad to see that you are mature enough to throw some card games so that the young kids don’t get their spirits crushed. There is no other way that the “King of Cards” would lose twice!

  41. Alan,
I’m glad to hear that you are doing well. This trip sounds amazing, and I’m glad you got to be a part of it. I don’t know who is beating you at cards down there, but they have the thanks and blessings of many of us here. Continue being a blessing buddy, and I’ll see you when you get back.
    Dirk

  42. Hey Alan, I was just checkin out the trip progress. It appears you are havin a good week, sure wish you would learn how to use a level though,Prayin for you and the work being done for HIM, Mike Boven

  44. Last night at our 1st med village was an awesome night. Starting out by playing catch with the boys to playing 3 hours of soccer in 1oo degrees. Then we moved on to the lasers pens, one of my favorite toys, who says you cant have fun with one dollar. Now to my favorite part, the reason why i have such a passion to come to Guatemala. After watching the Jesus film the opportunity to give some of our testimonies were given, then Hermona moved into his message. After his message the alter call was given, my favorite part. I think about 20 to 30 people came foward to give theyre life to CHRIST. I got the opportunity to put my hands on two older men in the village as they prayed the salvation prayer. The part of this night that touched my heart was when the song THE POWER OF YOUR LOVE was played in spanish and Dan was up front with his hand on Hermonos shoulder i looked up at Hermono and he was weeping tears of joy, as i began to weep myself, as i so often do when GOD allows me to be part of his work, i found a new appreciation for this song. I will always think of this night when i sing this song to GOD MY FATHER. I hope the kids on this trip were touched by this evening and that thru this they may get a passion to serve GOD in a way they never thought possible. Its so amazing in my own life how these Guatemala people have ministerd to me and had a huge influence in my own personal relationship with CHRIST. You back at home i challenge to step out of your comfort zone and experiece Christ in your life in a way that you will never forget. Love you all in CHRIST, ALAN

  45. Big Al,
We are praying your Sunday will be another AWESOME day in Guatemala. I know as many times as you have been there it can never get old sharing the love of JESUS CHRIST. The pictures have been awesome,it helps here at home to put faces and activities together. We cannot stress enough how PROUD we are of YOU and ALL of the members of the team this week to answer the calling of the LORD and going out and furthering the kingdom of GOD. Time for church. Thanks again and GOD BLESS, John

Our prayers are with you that you and the group would have a safe and fruitful time of ministry and growth this week.
    Rod

  50. Woody,
Well buddy as another trip winds down to a close, the awesome thing is even when the team is gone the HOLY SPIRIT will continue to nurture the seeds that have been planted. Looking forward to all the photos and hearing the stories of this trip. May GOD BLESS you and all of those around you on this day. John

  51. Last night was a very interesting night. After leaving the village we ran into a bit of a snag when a tree had fallen down across the road we came in on. Then it was my turn to get sick standing out in the middle of nowhere. We returned to base camp at 3 am. Chad im glad to see you made it back from your trip, i hope you had a good time. Blake thanks for all your notes not only to me, but to the other team members also. Im looking foward to seeing you all at the airport when we return. Looking back at this trip one thing stands out so clear to me. God gave me this awesome opportunity to minister to one of my small group members. Its so amazing how God will use you if you put yourself out ther for him. Every time i come on this trip i experience something thru God. Thanks for all your notes of prayer and encouragment. Its really cool to hear from you all, its like your here with us. Thanks John for your notes, your like my most loyal prayer partner. Please pray for the team tonight as we are all challenged to give it up to God, in our final devotion night. In CHRIST, Alan
